J. Barry Robb, M.D., General Surgery, Salt Lake, UT

“The development of the INSORB Stapler represents a quantum leap forward in skin closure technology. It is elegant in its simplicity, easy to use, provides a safe and secure wound closure in a fraction of the operating time and gives a superior cosmetic result. In addition, there are no needle sticks with the INSORB Stapler. You cannot stick yourself, or your scrub nurse. This Stapler has revolutionized skin wound closure!”
Thomas Dressel, M.D., Plastic Surgery, Edina, MN

“The experience with the INSORB Subcuticular Skin Stapler includes the use of the absorbable staple for immediate closure of contaminated wounds that would have otherwise been managed by delayed primary closure... These closures have healed without further intervention or complications... Use of the absorbable staples resulted in reduced post-operative complications, low maintenance wounds, and the elimination of staple removal. Our patients expressed a high degree of satisfaction with the wounds closed by the absorbable staples.”
James H. Andrisevic, M.D., F.A.C.S.; Nancy Guttormson, M.D., F.A.S.C., General Surgery, Burnsville, MN

“I had a breast reduction in February [2006]. The use of the INSORB Stapler saved over an hour of surgical time from our ‘standard’ procedure. I was back to work in one week and felt great. A great tool to save cost and time in the operating room.”
Kathy Fink, Plastic Surgery Assist, Minneapolis, MN

“Remarkably good skin approximation without the risk of incisional marginal necrosis. My preferred method of skin closure for all cardiac, vascular, and thoracic patients. Provides the best skin healing I have ever seen.”
Gilbert Schorlemmer, M.D., Cardiothoracic Surgery, Salt Lake City, UT

“Visible cutaneous erythema and other signs of inflammation were not observed in our patients... We found a remarkable decrease in skin irritation over the incisional areas closed with absorbable staples compared to metal skin staple closures... The use of the absorbable staples eliminated the cost, patient discomfort and inconvenience associated with post-operative removal of metal skin staples. Patients have remarked of their satisfaction with regard to comfort and cosmesis of their wounds.”
Mark Moskowitz, M.D., F.A.C.S, General Surgery

“Wonderful! Patients really appreciate the "extra effort" to make the incision look so good. In the Ob/Gyn world this is very important to the patient. In the past I would take the extra time to place a subcuticular stitch (hate the old-fashioned staple holes above and below the incision). It's great that I don't have to worry about this anymore - shortening the procedure time by at least 10 to 15 minutes without sacrificing the aesthetics. Wonderful! David E. Zepeda, M.D., Obstetrics & Gynecology, Houston, TX

“The closure and final incision appearance provided by the INSORB stapling device, especially on 1st incisions, is excellent. INSORB closure is equivalent to a subcuticular closure in far less time, and still allows for drainage between staples to decrease the incidence of seroma/hematoma formation.”
William M Quirk III, M.D., Obstetrics & Gynecology, Youngstown, OH

“I have been using the INSORB dermal stapler for nearly six years and although there is a learning curve in using this, I have found it to save a tremendous amount of time. I operate an AAAASF certified operating room in my office and found that this saves more than enough time to justify its cost. The company has been very quick to adopt user criticism and suggestions in the early years and they now have a very stable and reliable product. It is a game changer when used properly, especially for the very long incisions such as an abdominoplasty and mastopexy. I will continue to use this product and I am sure there will be continued innovations in the future from this company.”

Dominique G Doan, M.D., Obstetrics & Gynecology, San Gabriel, CA

“I think INSORB is great! I have been an OB/GYN for 20 years and practice in the greater Seattle area. There are only a few products I would bother to rave about and INSORB is one of them. I have been using it for over two years, quit with the metal stables after only a few uses of INSORB. Best to my knowledge, I have not had any incisional infections with INSORB as the absorbable stables do not pierce the skin, pulling the skin edges together subcutaneously. I have had no dehiscences and the scarring results are wonderful. Multiple patients of mine have keloid scarring after prior cesarean section and/or laparotomy which I have excised, closing the repeat incision with INSORB and no keloid at follow up. I would be disappointed if INSORB became unavailable for my patients!”
Nancy J Bohannon M.S., M.D., F.A.C.O.G., Obstetrics & Gynecology, Seattle, WA
